It was a great sunny day to study Solar Energy! It was good to discuss the different types of energy and the sources where they come from. An interesting fact from Mrs. Schoppe's Web Hunt: "energy cannot be created or destroyed, only converted from one form to another" This is an idea to keep in mind as we study different forms of energy.
The scientists painted their nails with solar polish, used solar race cars to harness the sunny day's awesome power and made solar bracelets with solar beads. The web hunt pulled the day together as students searched to find answers using websites on the computer.
Garrison painted all nails. He asked later when he could "wash it off". I explained it was not able to be washed off. He handled it bravely. :-)
I later found some polish remover and we took off all the nail jobs that the kids did not want to go home with.
Haley, Virginia, Megan and Lexi were busy figuring out how to keep the solar race cars going. They finally figured out how to make a long track and everyone could race their solar cars. Today was such a beautiful day, it was hard to get the kids to come inside and clean up.
The boys always love the fingernail polish more than the girls!!!!!
